Munch Crunch Comes to Town

Munch Crunch Organics has launched its organic home delivery service! The new service is operating from Ballina to South Golden and out west to Bangalow. You can check out our delivery zones on our website: http://munchcrunchorganics.com.au.

Our online shop gets updated with our latest availability of yummy organic produce on Friday afternoons. You then have until midnight on Tuesday to place an order, which will get delivered on the Friday. This gives us a couple of days to pick, pack and deliver your box.

Down on the Farm

After such a wet April the farm is still pretty wet underfoot. The drop in temperature has also meant that the growth of plants has slowed down. This is good on the one hand as it means the weeds aren’t such a burden but on the other hand it means our vegetables take longer to grow.

During the April rains we lost about 90% of our leafy green vegetables, they simply just turned to mush due to the continual wet. It hasn’t stopped us carrying on though and we’ve been planting hard for the last couple of weeks. We’ve planted lots of winter veges such as Kale, Cabbage and Broccoli and we’re also continuing to plant our leafy greens and a few herbs such as Coriander.

We’ve had quite a few Woofers helping out over the last 6 weeks, which has been a great help. WOOFing means Willing Workers on Organic Farms. It’s basically an exchange of labour for food and accommodation. It’s a great way for people to get to experience what it’s like to work on an organic farm. We try and keep the jobs varied for our Woofers so that they can learn as many skills as possible. Some of the work the recent Woofers have been doing is, nursery work, planting, weeding and picking.
