Farm News
Welcome to our first newsletter of 2010rganic sorry it's been a bit slow in the making but we've been
flat out and this year has zipped by already.
Exciting things that we have been working on
We have been increasing our grower group
with new farmers joining us, which will enable us to increase our product
range. In the last 12 months we've helped 5 other farmers through
the transition from conventional farming to the organic farming system
and we're aiming to encourage more farmers to convert to a more sustainable
way of farming this year.
Open day
It seems like a long time ago now but thanks you to everyone who attended our inaugural Summer Harvest Feast! The open day was a great success with over 40 people attending. Local chef Stephanie Willaton author of "Nourish" put on an amazing spread of seasonal organic produce, 70% of which was grown on our farm! Attendees were taken on a farm walk by Munch Crunch farmer Alasdair Smithson to visit the fields that grow the veggies we sell through our boxes and that Stephanie used in her delicious feast. We look forward to inviting all of our customers to our next open day!New produce in our online shop
We now have a full range of certified
organic dairy products from Barambah
Organics in our online shop.
We'll be adding more products such as bread and grains soon too.
Farewell Jack
Jack Gough our lead farm-hand left a
couple of months ago to go travelling in Europe, your enthusiasm and
great work ethic will be missed Jacko, not only on the farm but
in the local community too.
Boxes as gifts
Munch Crunch boxes can be delivered to
friends and families as gifts! If you would like to order a box as a
gift, sign in as normal and let us know the lucky recipient's name and
address in the "delivery notes" section of the checkout. Feel
welcome to include a personalised message for us to pass on! We
also do office
drops, if you'd like to order
a box of fruit for your workplace to share.
Down on the farm
A busy month on the farm for us this
month as we are starting up production on one of our co-op farms in
Newrybar, the farm owned by Andy and Lucile currently has lime trees,
mandarins and macadamias. They have some great
red volcanic soil, which we're
looking forward to planting lots of yummy broccoli, kale and celery
into.
We're on Facebook
Munch Crunch has its own Facebook page
featuring photos from our Summer
Harvest Feast and links to lots
of educational information. Why not go have a look and start a
new topic on our discussion board.
